This past month, I’ve been slowly reworking my social media presence. Between life and continuing education, I had to set it aside for a while but I’ve been getting back into the groove by revisiting old sessions, re-editing, and sharing them again. It’s been fascinating to see how my editing style and creative eye have evolved over the years. Photos I once overlooked have become new favorites, and it’s a beautiful reminder of how much growth comes with time and experience.
Something new I’m offering is the option to purchase RAW files. I used to be firmly against releasing unedited images, but over the past couple of years, I’ve softened my stance. Honestly, I’m proud of my straight-out-of-camera work. Past clients are also welcome to reach out if they’d like to purchase RAWs from their previous sessions (as long as the files are still available).
I’ve had a few newborn sessions recently, and it reminded me how much I miss photographing full-time. Unfortunately, during my move across the country, I lost a few key pieces of equipment, one of my lights and a favorite lens, so sessions have been a little tricky. I’m holding off on replacing them until I have a few more bookings, but I’m eager to be back in full swing soon.
On a more personal note, I’ve noticed lately that my cheerful, bubbly nature can sometimes catch people off guard. For the past ten years, I’ve spent my time photographing people during some of the happiest moments of their lives; weddings, pregnancies, and newborn days; and that joy naturally carries into how I interact with others. While not everyone responds the same way, I’ve realized that’s more of a reflection on them than on me. Life is far too short not to spread a little light, and I truly believe the world could use more kindness and genuine happiness right now.
As the holidays approach, I find myself missing family and old friends more than ever. Thanksgiving used to be my favorite holiday, but in recent years, it’s been harder to celebrate without some of the people I love most. This year, I plan to decorate for Christmas a bit early- there’s something comforting about the glow of twinkle lights and the spirit of the season.
The kids are thriving in school, and Trev has been so dedicated to his fitness goals I couldn’t be prouder of the effort and discipline he’s shown. Even when life feels busy or uncertain, our little family keeps finding ways to grow stronger together.
It’s hard to believe I’m already approaching my first year in the U.S. Air Force! This year has been such a whirlwind—basic training, tech school, arriving at my first duty station, completing my first TDY, and finishing my CDCs. I’m looking forward to starting college courses as soon as the government shutdown ends. I’ve been volunteering as much as I can and soaking up every opportunity to learn more about my job and leadership.
This season has brought so much growth, both personally and professionally, and I’m deeply grateful for where I’m at and where I’m headed next.
All the love,
Tori
